In some ways I am a cliche girl from Wisconsin. I grew up on a dairy farm; attended the small local high school, graduating with 64; was in the flag corp, ran track, and played volleyball; I was even the county Farm Bureau princess. However, that is where the cliche ends. I went off to college, Michigan Tech, and majored in geology. Finished with a geophysics degree from University of Houston. I worked at a geoscience service company in Houston for 3 years. Then a move to Michigan where I tried teaching...didn't like it, so off to Grad school. I am still trying to finish a master's in geography.

Luckily my brothers introduced me to good music, Pink Floyd, The Who, The Rolling Stones, etc. And we watched a lot of British comedies on PBS, so I get Monthy Python and appreciate Dr. Who and am very excited that the show is back after 9 years!

My mother ensured that we had plenty of good books to read, from dinosaur picture books to learn to read, and later Madeline L'Engle, Roald Dahl, Piers Anthony's Xanth series, and of course, J.R.R. Tolkien. Since then I've continued to comsume science fiction and fantasy novels. Luckily I have plenty of friends with similar tastes, so I am continually introduced to great authors. I've tired of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time; just finish it already! But I am still encouraged by Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. And I cannot wait to get the next segment of George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire. **I predict that Arya will become an assassin for Daenerys.** Lately I've found interest in the historical fiction of Sharon Kay Penman.

I am also a Star Wars geek. I am a member of the fan club and attended Celebration II. Unfortunately, I have to finish my master's thesis instead of going to Celebration III. That really sucks. But I _will_ see Episode III on opening day. And I am a fan of Firefly, thanks to Jen G and the new Batttlestar Galactica, thanks to Trevor, and a fan of Farscape of my own right. The new LOTR is a given, but I also have the old animated Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

I do enjoy the out of doors, too. I garden and play in the dirt. I still climb trees. I hike and mountain bike, though not very strenuously. I enjoy birdwatching and ensuring that my lanscape plant selection benefits the wildlife.

On a personal note, I've been married since 1995 to my wonderful Jacob. We have three beautiful kitties: Smokie, Tinker and Ginger. Maybe someday we will add to our family, but we don't want to grow up that much, yet.

I guess that's the high points.
